Actors Julia Roberts and Patricia Arquette recently sat down for an interview in which they discussed their careers and shared personal stories.
Arquette prepared for the interview by taking notes and soliciting questions from her Twitter followers.
During the conversation, Arquette revealed that the original script for the film “Pretty Woman” was titled “3000” and had a darker ending in which Richard Gere’s character dumped Julia Roberts’ character in a dirty alley.
Roberts admitted that she was initially attached to the gritty version of the script but was grateful that the film was revamped by Disney and Garry Marshall.
She noted that she would never do a movie that gritty again and said that actresses don’t have to play prostitutes to win an Oscar.
The interview then turned to Arquette’s roles in “Escape at Dannemora” and “The Act,” in which she played complex and sometimes villainous characters.
Arquette shared that she is “uptight” in her personal life and often takes baths in the dark but enjoys playing sexually free characters on screen.
She also discussed her concerns about body image and the types of bodies that are considered “sexy” in Hollywood.
Roberts, who starred in the Amazon series “Homecoming,” spoke about her transition from film to television and praised the show’s director, Sam Esmail.
She also talked about her love for all aspects of acting, including the “circus” of long hours and living in trailers.
The interview ended with the two actresses sharing audition stories, with both recalling times when they used temporary hair dye that ended up running down their faces.
They marveled at the surreal nature of their careers and the success they have achieved.
